Steve Welker and Company Inc. is a growing Licensed Insolvency Trustee practice in the Greater Toronto Area that provides insolvency services to consumer debtors.
Due to strong demand for its services the firm’s growth requires an additional Licensed Insolvency Trustee with consumer insolvency experience to join its practice.
A description of the role is broken into core functions and can be found below:
CLIENT FACING:

  • Perform initial assessments by phone
  • Perform in person assessments of consumer debtors in accordance with directive 6R3 at the firm’s head office as well as non-resident offices
  • Facilitate the filing of debtors’ assignments in bankruptcy or consumer proposals by explaining all requisite prescribed and firm specific forms to the debtor, and having them signed
  • Perform credit counselling as required

ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • Chair meetings of creditors as required
  • Represent the firm in court as required
  • With the support of administrative staff, ensure active consumer proposals and bankruptcies are being administered in accordance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
  • Manage and develop administrative staff
  • Effectively communicate with all relevant stakeholders

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

  • Attend local networking events
  • Forge relationships with potential referral sources
  • Spearhead marketing initiatives
  • Research topics and write blog posts

Other administrative duties as required;
Core Competencies:

  • Level 1 – Critical:
    • Strong attention to detail;
    • Conscientious nature;
    • Strong written and oral communication skills;
    • Strong independent problem solving skills;
    • Strong knowledge of Ascend insolvency software;
    • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills; and
    • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with clients and co-workers.
  • Level 2 – Beneficial:
    • Ability to speak another language;
    • Ability to prepare personal income tax and HST returns;
    • Accounting designation, MBA, or LLB;
  • Education:
    • Licensed Insolvency Trustee license (Required)
  • Experience:
    • Three (3) or more years of consumer insolvency experience (Preferred)
  • Compensation:
    • Competitive salary plus bonus commensurate with experience
    • Four (4) weeks of vacation

    • Greater Toronto Area
