He’s a fisherman, home renovator and knows his way around a kitchen. That’s a picture of Steve fishing with his father Peter who is also a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. His brother is a Trustee as well. His family has successfully helped thousands of Ontarians with their debt problems since the 90s. Steve understands that life throws curveballs and is a firm believer in the Canadian insolvency system. He knows the relief that an initial consultation can provide, and he enjoys empowering his clients to overcome their financial difficulties.
Sure, he’s a chartered accountant, Licensed Insolvency Trustee, and received the gold medal for the highest mark on the National Insolvency Exam. Still, he doesn’t like to remind anyone of those facts… except his brother.
Community is important to Steve. That’s why PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP recognized him as their South Western Ontario Volunteer of the year for his work on a local board of directors. He’s also been a big brother for over a decade and prepared tax returns for free through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
After cutting his teeth in commercial insolvency and working on large receiverships and re-organizations Steve founded Steve Welker and Company Inc. in 2014 to pursue his passion of serving individuals struggling with debt.

After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Economics, and serving as President of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union, Steve went on to work for different national accounting firms where he earned his Chartered Accounting designation in 2008.
After spending a few years working towards obtaining his Trustee license while focusing on corporate insolvency proceedings, Steve decided to leave corporate insolvency to focus on helping individuals struggling with debt instead.
After eight months travelling Steve founded Steve Welker and Company in 2014.
Coming from a family of Licensed Insolvency Trustees, he understands that life doesn’t always go as planned, and takes pride in helping Ontarians get relief and rebuild their financial lives.
Steve is a Chartered Accountant, Licensed Insolvency Trustee, Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional, Licensed Credit Counsellor, and earned the top mark on the National Insolvency Exam, for which he received a gold medal in 2012.
Volunteering is important to Steve and he’s proud to have been recognized as the volunteer of the year in Southwestern Ontario by PricewaterhouseCoopers, have served as a big brother for over a decade, and prepare tax returns for free.

With over 20 years of insolvency experience, Raquel is a veteran with a patient approach to explaining the insolvency process, and successfully guiding individuals towards their fresh start.
Raquel is an Insolvency Administrator and Licensed Credit Counsellor. She is also fluent in Tagalog.
Raquel successfully facilitates the negotiation of consumer proposals and also delivers credit counselling.
Ammar officially became a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional in January 2025, and successfully became a Licensed Insolvency Trustee in July 2026.
Ammar graduated from York University with his Bachelor of Commerce and Administrative Studies degree, and has over a decade of experience in the insolvency industry, and is a Licensed Credit Counsellor.
Ammar is fluent in Urdu, and is always happy to explain Canada’s insolvency legislation to anyone struggling with debt, and searching for relief.
Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Abby completed her diploma in Culinary Management from Centennial College and spent time working in kitchens on multiple continents including memorable time spent on Australia’s beautiful Fraser Island. Abby has learned a great deal about the insolvency industry since joining the team and enjoys interacting with clients.
She successfully completed the Insolvency Administrators course offered by the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals in 2026, and focuses primarily on the administration of bankruptcy estates.
Sally is an experienced insolvency administrator and creditor counsellor who has more than 10 years of industry experience. She’s the proud mother of two young boys.
Sally has completed the Insolvency Administrators course through the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, and is also a licensed credit counsellor.
Sally is currently enrolled in the program of studying leading to becoming a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.
Sally primarily administers the firms complex files such as ordinary bankruptcies, and Division 1 Proposals.
Serena is a busy mother of three, who joined the firm in 2023.
Serena completed the Insolvency Administrators course through the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals in 2026.
She’s a jack of all trades who provides general administrative support to the team, while also focusing on keeping our proposal clients on track by monitoring payments and annulments.
Amanda is the friendly voice of the firm handling incoming calls, and responding to customer requests.
When not dealing with client requests, she is processing proofs of claim, or new files and sending notices to creditors.
Amanda is a proud mom, and enjoys being outdoors at her camp outside the city.
